APT branch meeting: Homecare

9th July 2014 7pm meet for a 7.30pm start

Redwood House Education Centre, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital site

The next APT branch meeting will be on weds 9th July.

This session will be ran by Adele Jones and she will be talking about the homecare system.

It will be useful for both community and hospital technicians because in both sectors we could come across patients who have some of their medicines as homecare and may need help to sort out problems.

Homecare is the delivery of medicines or the delivery and administration of medicines directly to the patients’ home. This is part of the growing agenda to treat people in the community, where possible, in order to be able to improve the patient experience and reduce the strain on acute hospital services. The hospital pharmacy department has recently been made accountable for running the homecare service throughout the trust.

In the session Adele will talk about:

·         The kinds of medicines that are done via homecare

·         How the process works

·         The benefits to patients

·         The benefits to the hospital / CCG

·         Problems we are currently experiencing

·         What could happen in the future

Please let Amanda Gregory, Pharmacy Technician, Cheltenham General Hospital know if you would like to attend this meeting;  cost is £2 .
